Iwama Sanso is a matagi (hunter) inn located in Ichirino Onsen at the foot of Hakusan – one of Japan's three most famous mountains.
You can appreciate nature here throughout the four seasons with trekking, skiing and other activities. This area also becomes Hakusan Ichirino Onsen Ski Resort in the winter and you can ski or snowboard back to the inn. You can savor ingredients distinctive of an inn run by matagi (e.g. bear, wild boar, edible wild plants and mushrooms) combined with the local cuisine of Hakusan. You can enjoy Ichirino Onsen – 100% natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source – at any time 24 hours a day.

The large stuffed bears will catch your eye when you enter the front door!
These are animals deeply connected with our inn as valuable food and goods since long ago.
We will serve you meals in the morning and evening in a spacious 50-tatami mat banquet hall.
The dining room is also available on the first floor.
We serve various kinds of healthy meals that will make your body happy with the blessings of Hakusan.
We make these meals with ingredients distinctive of Hakusan (e.g., bear, wild boar, freshwater fish and mushrooms) seasoned with the local taste distinctive of Hakusan.
Please savor the seasonal tastes fostered by nature together with great-tasting local sake.

Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road is a dynamic tourist toll road that runs from Shirakawa-go in Gifu Prefecture to Ichirino Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture. It is possible to enjoy superb seasonal views from spring to fall only. However, the fall leaf season is undeniably the most famous. The best time to see the fall leaves peaks from the middle to late October. There is a magnificent contrast of the colored trees with the mountain towering above and the valley below you! In addition, you can see a sea of rare Japanese beech trees in a virgin forest from the Hakusan Observatory. The vista at the summit of Hakusan is wonderful from summer to the fall. If you drive your car a little bit in the Ichirino Onsen direction from Hakusan Observatory, Fukubeotaki – the greatest and most magnificent large falls in Jatani – will catch your attention. This drop is close to 90 meters. The splashing water occasionally covers the road! If you pass through the White Road with its total length of 33.3 km, you will come to the gasshodzukuri (traditional style of Japanese architecture with a steep thatched roof) village of the Shirakawa-go – a World Heritage Site – on the Gifu Prefecture side. Iwama Sanso is located directly to the side of the entrance on the Ishikawa Prefecture side.
※There is also a bus available on a reservation basis from Komatsu Airport. Please visit the URL below or contact us by telephone for details.

It is not possible to pass from the Ishikawa Prefecture side to the Gifu Prefecture side when it is closed. Please take care.
